Chiyogami papers are hand-printed
using a silk screened technique. The lacquer-based
ink produces vibrant colours and often includes metallics. The base paper is a
machine-made paper that is primarily wood pulp but may include small portions
of recycled material. The paper is supple
but tough. The size noted is the size of
the printed portion and does not include a small white border beyond.
